Dr. Lily Lai will be presenting her PhD research at the University of Southampton Primary Care REACH group afternoon seminar.  Topics covered will include:

• Introduction to polycystic ovary syndrome and menstrual irregularities
• Primary and secondary care treatment options
• Overview of PhD research: Systematic review of the evidence
• Overview of PhD research: Delphi interview and questionnaire study with herbal practitioners in the UK
• Overview of PhD research: The ORCHID study, a feasibility study exploring the effects of Chinese herbal medicine for women with polycystic ovary syndrome
• Reflections and implications for future herbal research

This is a meeting amongst a multidisciplinary group of trial managers, GPs, health psychologists, sociologists and complementary medicine researchers, all working within primary care research.  Attendance to the REACH monthly meetings are open so please get in touch with Lily if you are interested in joining in on the debate.

Research Council for Complementary Medicine

This one-day conference in London hosted by Middlesex University will explore what benefits there could be of integrating complementary medicine approaches with conventional medicine.  Besides a number of keynote speakers including Professor Fan Qu from King's College London and Dr. Peter Mackareth from Christie NHS Trust, there will also be opportunity for researchers to present work relating to the area of integrative medicine. 

During this conference, Dr. Lily Lai will give 2 presentations, briefly discussing with researchers, clinicians and practitioners:

• Results from the ORCHID study, a feasibility study investigating the effects of Chinese herbal medicine for symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome
• Conducting herbal research in the UK: Lessons learnt from a feasibility study in primary care
